Kenya delegation visits NDDB

Mr Richard Kiprono Tuwei, Chairman, Kenya Dairy Farmer Foundation (KDFF) accompanied by a five member delegation from KDFF and East Africa Dairy Development Project of Heifer International visited NDDB, Anand on 28 May 2014.

With a view to promote dairying in Kenya, the delegation held discussions with Shri T Nanda Kumar, Chairman NDDB. The delegation requested NDDB’s assistance in exploring the prospects of organising milk cooperatives for procurement, processing and marketing in Kenya. They also sought NDDB’s expertise in need based training and capacity building of milk producers and other stake holders. NDDB agreed to provide technical support in processing and marketing in Kenya.

During their visit, they were presented with an overview of the achievements of NDDB and various initiatives taken by NDDB for dairy development in the country. Discussions were held on the innovations introduced by NDDB in Animal Breeding, Health and Nutrition which could contribute to increasing productivity. They were also briefed about NDDB’s training modules focussing on capacity building of milk producers. Initiatives taken by NDDB for providing Balanced Ration, Urea Molasses Block production, Mineral Mixture and Bypass Protein were explained.

They were briefed about NDDB’s Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF), and other wholly owned subsidiaries of NDDB.
